National Campaign for Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion with focus on Hand Washing

Monitoring

For successful implementation of the campaign, a strong and participatory monitoring system is needed to ensure that the programme is implemented the way it is planned and to learn from the experience for future improvement. Two types of monitoring mechanism have been planned; they are:

  1. Monitoring by the School: School with the involvement of its trained teachers will implement as well as monitor the programme to see that all the six activities are executed successfully. They will also have to share a report in a given format after the completion of Oct 15th event. A signed report has to be shared by Oct 17th to the Block Officials who will compile all the reports and share with the TSC district officials who will upload the report using the TSC online monitoring system.

  1. Monitoring by the external monitoring teams: To ensure the participation of all the schools in the campaign and support them, special external monitoring teams are to be set up with officials from SSA, TSC, MDM, NGOs, Tribal Welfare Department, PRIs, and other Govt Departments from district and block. They will take up random monitoring of the campaign on Oct 15th by physically visiting the villages and wards. They will submit their report in given format to the District Authorities. They will at least cover 5% of the villages/ward and will ensure that activities are taking place as per the plan.
